AI connections: Claude, ChatGPT and Perplexity

Connect your own Claude, ChatGPT or Perplexity (beta) to VexOp+, so it can look up your jobs, clients, quotes, invoices and schedule. It only reads, and it sees only what you can see.

AI connections is an add-on, included in Pro and Enterprise, that an owner switches on in Settings, then Integrations & Add-ons. It lets each person connect their own AI app to VexOp+: Claude, ChatGPT, or Perplexity, which is in beta. Then you can ask it what is on this week, which invoices are overdue or where a job is up to, and it looks the answer up in VexOp+.

It is read only. Your AI app can look things up, but it never sends, changes or deletes anything in VexOp+, and it never touches money.

Your VexOp+ address

Every business uses the same address: https://mcp.vexop.com.au/mcp. Once AI connections is on, it is on the AI connections page in Settings, then Integrations & Add-ons, and on My profile, each with a Copy button.

Who can connect

Owners can always connect. Team members can connect their own AI apps only while an owner switches on Team members can connect their own AI apps, on the AI connections page. Switching it off disconnects every team member’s connection straight away. Switching it back on brings none of them back: each person connects again.

Everyone connects as themselves, signed in to VexOp+ with their own account. VexOp staff can never connect an AI app to your business, including when they are signed in as you to help.

Connect Claude

Claude Free, Pro and Max add it this way, and Claude Free allows one custom connector. Once it is added it works on claude.ai, in the Claude desktop app and in the Claude mobile apps. Claude Code is not supported yet.

On Claude Team or Enterprise, an organisation Owner adds VexOp+ once, in Organization settings, then Connectors. Each person then clicks Connect in Customize, then Connectors, and signs in to VexOp+ as themselves.

  1. 1.In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors, then Add custom connector.
  2. 2.Name it VexOp+ and paste your VexOp+ address. Leave the OAuth client ID and secret empty.
  3. 3.Click Add, then Connect, and allow it in VexOp+.

Connect ChatGPT

ChatGPT Business, Enterprise and Edu can add it, on chatgpt.com. On Business, a workspace admin or owner creates it for the workspace.

OpenAI says ChatGPT Pro allows connectors that only read, which is all VexOp+ does. If your ChatGPT shows Add custom MCP server under Plugins, it works the same way.

  1. 1.On chatgpt.com, open Plugins, click +, then Add custom MCP server.
  2. 2.Name it VexOp+, paste your VexOp+ address and choose OAuth.
  3. 3.Click Create as a plugin, install it, then type @VexOp+ in a chat.

Connect Perplexity (beta)

A Perplexity Enterprise admin can add it for everyone in Enterprise settings, then Permissions, then Connectors.

For a Perplexity organisation, choose that each member signs in individually, never once for everyone. Otherwise one person's VexOp+ access would answer the whole organisation.

VexOp+ registers Perplexity itself, so there is nothing else to fill in. Perplexity is in beta: if something does not work, tell VexOp through VexOp Partner.

  1. 1.In Perplexity, open Account settings, then Connectors, and add a custom connector.
  2. 2.Paste your VexOp+ address, choose Streamable HTTP and OAuth 2.0, and leave the client ID and secret empty.
  3. 3.Connect, and allow it in VexOp+.

Allow it in VexOp+

Cancel connects nothing. VexOp+ asks every time an AI app connects, even one you connected before. If the page says the sign-in has expired or was already used, go back to your AI app and connect again.

  1. 1.Once you add the address, your AI app opens a VexOp+ page in your browser. Sign in if you are asked to, with two-step verification as usual.
  2. 2.Check the page: the AI app’s name and the web address it returns to, your business, and who is signed in. Click Switch account if it is not you.
  3. 3.Only continue if you started connecting from that AI app just now. Click Allow, and you go back to your AI app, connected.

What your AI app can see

Only what you can see in VexOp+: your role’s areas, only the jobs you are on if your role says my jobs only, and never a record with a sensitive label your role cannot see. It can look up jobs, clients, quotes, invoices and what is owed, the schedule, and VexOp+ help. A job’s variations are included while Variations is on.

Each record it finds comes with a link that opens it in VexOp+.

Your AI provider and your records

Your business chooses to send its own records to the AI provider it picks: Anthropic for Claude, OpenAI for ChatGPT, or Perplexity. That happens under each person’s own AI account, and that provider’s terms and privacy policy apply. VexOp+ calls no AI model for this, and does not pay for or see your conversations: your AI app sends VexOp+ only its lookups.

Text your customers wrote, such as job descriptions and notes, reaches the AI app as data. VexOp+ tells the AI app never to follow instructions written inside it.

See and end connections

Owners see every connection in the business on the AI connections page: who connected which AI app, when it was connected and last used, and how many lookups it made today. Team members see their own on My profile, under AI connections. Disconnect stops a connection straight away.

Owners are told in the bell when someone connects an AI app, and so is the person who connected it.

VexOp+ also ends a connection itself after a sign out everywhere, a password or role change, when the person leaves the business or their account is switched off, and after 30 days unused. An ended connection stays listed for 30 days, with the reason.

The activity log

On the AI connections page, owners open AI activity to see every connection, disconnection and lookup: who, which AI app, what it looked up and how many records came back. Choose a connection to see only its activity. Every lookup is kept for 12 months.

Limits

Each connection can make up to 30 lookups a minute and 1,500 a day, and a business up to 5,000 a day, with a daily limit on how much its AI apps can read. The daily limits reset at midnight Brisbane time. A connection that reaches a limit is shown in the activity log.

If AI connections is switched off

Every connection stops straight away and nothing more is read. The connections are kept, and they work again when AI connections is switched back on. See the article on switching add-ons on and off.
